Legality and risk mitigation in EUDR
Are you ready to address questions or inspections from competent authorities?
EUDR applies from 30 December 2026 for large and medium enterprises, with micro and small enterprises following by 30 June 2027. This means that companies have to demonstrate their due diligence and traceability processes to secure imports.
While geolocation systems have been relatively easy to implement, there are more uncertainties around the EUDR legality requirements, where companies need to understand local and international risks, such as human and labour rights, and demonstrate they have mitigated those risks in their due diligence statement.
Behind the geolocation data and the legality checks are forests, and the people who live and work where commodities such as coffee, wooden furniture or chocolate bars are produced. That is what the due diligence statement is meant to protect.
Through a fictive commodity case, participants will explore:
- What are the legality requirements of EUDR?
- How does risk mitigation – and remediation look like?
- What is the role of certification in risk mitigation?
- How to address questions or inspections from competent authorities?
Further information will follow.

- This workshop is for members of Ethical Trade Denmark. There is generally no cap on the number of participants per organisation, but as space is limited, we reserve the right to restrict this to two participants per organisation if the event becomes fully booked.
