Webinar: Living Income
Living income in the cocoa and coffee supply chain
Living income is increasingly recognized as a crucial aspect of sustainable supply chains. Recently, over 60 companies, investors, and initiatives from different industries publicly called on the EU to ensure that living wages and living income are included as a human right in the upcoming Directive for corporate sustainability due diligence (CSDDD).
In the coffee and cocoa sector as well as other commodities, it has become clear that farmers must be economically viable and that they need sufficient income to continually invest in and improve their farms. The effects of climate change and low income in these sectors represent serious threats to future quantity and quality of supply. Volatile and low prices are pushing farmers to leave their profession and few from the next generation are willing to continue farming.
In this webinar you will gain insights on how to approach working with living income, and why this is so important. We have invited speakers from IDH-the sustainable trade initiative and chocolate brand Tony’s Chocolonely to share their experiences on how to make living income a reality.
Speakers:
– Jordy van Honk, global director agriculture commodities at IDH, The Sustainable Trade Initiative
– Joke Aerts, Inspire to Actress (open chain lead), Tony’s Chocolonely
– Camilla Erika Lerberg, Fairtrade Denmark
